Please Sign Our Guestbook! Posted by: Viola Location: San Antonio I have an adult male black lab for adoption. He is maybe 2 years old and very lovable however we have to give him up because he has a chewing habit that we cannot break him of. We have tried to work with him but he is not working out. There is no charge for adoption and he has been spayed; we just want a loving good home for him. If interested, please let me know and I will send a picture of him. We named him Shilo. Posted by: Nusi Location: Orlando, FL I just adopted 2 black lab puppies. They are 10 weeks old now. I was wondering if anyone could tell me how much 10 week old lab puppies should weigh? There were a little under weight when i got them and they had worms too. Now that we have gotten rid of the worms, i can see they are putting on weight. I am watching their diet carefully but it would help if i had some idea as to the average weight that they should be. My family and i are enjoying them tremendously and want to make sure we do the very best for them. Time: November 1st 2005, 01:58PM
Posted by: Ben Bates Location: Derby, KS I just wanted to say how much I am enjoying my dog, Fang. He is over two now and is a great dog. He is really smart, friendly, funny and the pheasants can't out smart him. Also, he has not had a single medical issue yet. He runs an hour a day with my wife and is the most healthy dog I know. If anyone ever wants to talk to me about my experience with one of your dogs let me know.

Posted by: Jim & Karen Smith Location: Wichita, Kansas We have two Double D Labrabors, a chocolate named Uncle Buck(2 yrs) and a yellow named Rocky(1-1/2 yrs). This week, Karens brother and wife came for a visit from Illinois and as usual, the boy's won their hearts and stole the show! They had sister-in-law out back throwing the frisbie or other retrieving toys constantly. When they left I think they were sadder to leave the boys than they were to leave us! But, that's the way it is. These dogs just know how to make even the most skeptical about dogs, dog lovers in no time!
I log in to this guestbook maybe once a year to encourage those that might be sitting on the fence about buying a lab from Double D. Our two boys have been healthy and happy, were quick and easy to train and are so downright funny and entertaining. If I had more room, I'd love to have another 1 or 2! Diane & Darrel will take good care of you and will provide you with a pup that will flat out be right in the center of your lives and the 1st to be greeted when friends walk through the door. One of the smartest things Karen and I ever did was bring that 1st lab home from Double D! Time: May 28th 2005, 10:06AM

Posted by: Alex Yaffe Location: Oklahoma City, OK An open message:
I adopted a pup from Diane almost two years ago. It turned out to be Ava's last litter of pups, and our Vegas is a wonderful companion. Since that time, I have become extremely active in a Lab Rescue organization called Lab Rescue OK, Inc. (www.labrescue.net) We deal with hundreds (if not thousands) of abandoned and unwanted dogs annually. I continue to check the double d website from time to time because I have a great deal of respect for Diane and the time, effort and research she puts into breeding her dogs. It troubles me that so many people are interested in breeding their labs, and as Diane will tell you it is a very difficult process and many times it is hard to find good, loving homes for a litter of 10-12 pups.
I cannot stress enough, the importance of spaying and/or neutering your animal and leave the breeding up to individuals who devote themselves full time to that endeavor. With the extreme popularity of Labs, inbreeding is an enormous concern and just because you have two wonderful Labs that one thinks would be perfect to breed, I beg you don't do it. When you get the urge, visit your local animal shelter and look into the eyes of those dogs (many of which are pure bred animals/labs) on their death beds.
Responsible breeders, like Diane, play an important role in maintaining this wonderful breed, I strongly encourage anyone considering breeding to think about all of the unwanted animals that already exist.
Thanks for your time and Diane thanks for your work.

I really need to send you a picture of Ginger. She is such a great dog. She weighs 90 pounds now. She is great with our kids, and recently she had an opportunity to be with a 7 month old baby. The baby crawled over to her, played with her collar, and then crawled to her tail, and stuck it in her mouth. Ginger was so gentle, never moved a muscle or even licked the baby. You can't ask for a better temperment than that! I wish we had a bigger house because I would really like to have another lab. They are just the best! Thanks for your hard work in breeding these fine pups!

Posted by: Debbie & Jeremy Rinehart Location: Liberal, KS Hi Diane,
Just wanted to let you know how the furkids are doing. Bo is now 110 lbs of energy and makes a great assistance dog as he is taller than Hailey and much stronger, although he still isn't near as smart as she is. Hailey is 85 lbs and still the smarted dog I have ever had. Bo is cramping her style a little as he steals whatever she is bringing me as he is really eager to please, but he can't always figure out what I want like she can. Bo brings Jeremy his shoes every morning, after he runs around the room with them first, and he is catching on better and better. I finally got him to put his toys away in the toy box like Hailey does. Bo is a true lab in the water dog way and loves our trips to the lake or just taking a dip in the horsetank or the water bowl or any water he can find. They are both great dogs, thanks so much for having a web site to find such beautiful dogs on and to get my puppy fix on. Keep up the good work. Debbie & Jeremy Time: October 10th 2004, 02:30AM

He has just completed puppy finishing school an will now hold a down-stay for a full 45 minutes. He is extremely loyal, athletic, and friendly and we can't thank you enough for hooking us up with one your well bred chanps. Thankyou. D,D,P and T. - PS. We just got news that we have twins due in March and we think a lot of it is due to the calming effect a our special canine companion. ;-).

Just wanted to update you. We took Toby to the lake this week and on his first boat ride. He played at the beach with another young lab and turned completely black with mud. He foud his water legs and was swimming all around. When we had him out on the dock he fell in and swam beautifully to the ladder, climbed out and went right back in two more times. We have even taken him to the dog park and he just loves running with the other dogs and chasing them into the pond. He hasn't got retrieving down yet so he just plays in the water. We've done research and decided a lab would suit us well at this time in our lives. We are particularly drawn to the "chunky" or "blocky" looking yellow labs.
Do you have puppies at this time or know a reputable breeder in Virginia who might have?

Posted by: David Sandvig Location: Johnson County, Kansas I want to let everyone who is considering getting a puppy from Diane, know, that they should not hesitate for any reason. We started our quest for a puppy many months ago and read tons of books, interviewed many breeders and finaly got on a waiting list with Diane. We were a little hesitant at first because she would need to pick a puppy for us and everything we read said we should go and pick one out of the litter ourselves. Well, we brought our little guy home last week and he is unbelivable. Well socialized, intellegent, calm and very curious. He's absolutely perfect. He is off to a great start with potty traing and will even let us know when he has to go out! He even leaves the play area of our yard to use his specific potty area. He still gets up at night, but only cries when he has to potty/ We get up, take him out, (which takes only a few minutes) and back inside to sleep he goes. Also, he has already established a strong bond with our son and the two of them are inseperable.
We can not THANK DIANE enough for her expertise and perfessionalism. She made a woderful choice in picking out our puppy and we look forward to long life with him. Time: April 12th 2004, 11:10AM

Ginger is doing great. We had 8 inches of snow recently and she absolutely loves it! She is such a smart girl. She figured out how to get ice out of the dispenser on the fridge. She is a wonderful addition to our family. We love her very much. We think our black lab is very smart! We get a lot of compliments about what a beautiful dog she is! If anyone is considering a lab from Diane, do not hesitate. Her puppies are the best! Time: February 7th 2004, 03:39PM

Posted by: Doris and Jerry Sundly Location: Long Beach, California Just wanted to update you on Pearl. She is just over 4 months, and growing like a weed. She weighs in at 43 lbs. She went to our dog beach last week, and had fun. Not quite sure about the waves. On Sunday we took her to Lake Arrowhead here in our local mountains. She was great in the car, and didn't quite know what to think about the mountains-but she quickly adapted and soon was in the pond. She picked up twigs and sticks, and was acting very retreiver like.
She is a great addition to our family, smart beautiful, and healthy. She trained very quickly-we're still working on the leash, but that's coming along fine.
Thanks again Diane for our beautiful new family member. Anyone thinking about getting a lab has come to the right place. A Double D lab has to be one of the best!
Thanks again-Doris and Jerry Time: January 14th 2004, 04:09PM

Posted by: Marc Location: SanFrancisco If you want the smartest lab look no further than a yellow or white lab.The yellow on average is the smartest of all labs. Much of this is proven by the consistent choice of proffesionals for guide and rescue dogs.Choc's seem to be the most lovable but also seem to be the most stuborn.Blacks can be some of the most athletic but are easly the back of the bus when it comes to smarts.I have owned trained and befriended many of these labs and this is my experience with these dogs. One thing is for sure. They are 12+ weeks, happy, healthy, smart (when they want to be) and more fun than we ever imagined. They play together (always seem to want the same toy), eat together, sleep together and do their business "in tandem". One is not to be outdone by the other! Every day is a new adventure. Mocha is going to be big like her daddy while Latte looks just like her momma. They are loving, loyal and beautiful animals, and everything we could want from four-legged family members. We saw Toby & Pooh's pups in your new litters, and it just reminded us of about this time last year, You had posted new litters of Toby and Pooh's Pups. That is when we picked out Rockingham from that litter. His was born
Dec. 6th last year. He is a year old now and he is the the best dog a person could ever want along with Samson which is 3 Weeks younger.
(From Sam and Sweetie)Samson is also a great boy! We love them so much, Just don't know what we would do without them!!! It is real hard to check out your new litters because it just makes me want another one, but two of them is enough for now but we know where we will go to get a great dog and that is with Diane!!!
Thanks Diane and Happy Holidays!!! Time: December 7th 2003, 07:19PM

I found Diane in a dog magazine and went to her website then emailed her. She called me back quickly and gave me a ton of information about their dogs and their facility. We got a pup from Ava and Toby and she is now our DAUGHTER Vegas. The dog is the smartest person in the family. I can't say enough good things about Double D. Posted by: Debbie & Jeremy RInehart Location: Liberal, KS Hi Diane,
I just wanted to let you know how the gang was doing. Hailey will be two in December and Bo will be one. Bo is already bigger than Hailey and gets in trouble twice as much - must be a male thing. I get compliments on them both every time someone sees them, they are usually freaked out because they have never seen white labs!! They are great with Jeremy and we love them lots. Bo is definately a water dog, can't keep him out of it. He even drops all his new toys in the water bucket to initiate them. He is usually in the water bucket himself with both front feet and his head as much as possible, since he got in trouble for trying that stunt in the toliet! He is a big beautiful lab just like we wanted. Hailey is still the smartest - must be a girl thing but Bo is giving her a run for the money as he steals everything she is bringing us out of her mouth so he can get the credit. He must be smarter than I think! It does make training her as a service dog more difficult but we are teaching him tasks also. He is so eager to please, he keeps bringing me stuff I didn't ask for!! Jeremy really likes to tell on Bo cuz he is always in trouble of some kind. I think when he matures he will be the greatest just like Hailey is. We love our labs plan on never being without a lab again. They really enhance Jeremy's life and give us a lot of laughter and joy. Thanks for breeding such great dogs. I love to look at all the new puppies on your site! Debbie & Jeremy

Posted by: Ben Bates Location: Derby, KS I just wanted to say how happy I am with my dog, Fang. He is a chocolate from Hunter and Foxy and he is the smartest dog I've known. He's not quite 12 weeks and he can already sit, stay, come, lie down, shake, and speak all on command. He's is also super friendly, loves other dogs and kids and our cat. He is also a very good looking dog. My vet also commented on how well he was cared for before I brought him home from Double D Labs. Thanks for a great dog Double D. Time: November 21st 2003, 07:16PM
Posted by: Angela Krueger Location: Leavenworth How Ironic! I just read the post from Jim and Karen Smith from Wichita and we have had almost the exact experience. Our first puppy, Hailey, is a chocolate out of Sam and Cocoa, and we loved her so much that we went back recently and got her real life nephew, a yelow, out of Rocky and Fergie. We named him Hunter. He is absolutely terrific. The only thing better than a lab, is watching 2 of them play together. They are so terrific. We can't imagine how we lived without them for so long! Posted by: Jim & Karen Smith Location: Wichita, Kansas We made another trip to Double D Labs Sunday and brought home another new puppy. "Uncle Buck", a 6 month old chocolate out of Sam & Dixie made the trip with us to pick up Buck's for real nephew, a beautiful yellow male out of Rocky & Fergie. They're getting along so well already! We're naming him "Rocky" after his father. We are so happy with our boys from Double D. Uncle Buck is so smart and quick to learn and Rocky seems to have that knowing gleam in his eyes too. Many thanks to Darell, (who we finally met this time!) and Diane. Time: November 17th 2003, 03:31PM

We got our puppy one month before my husband deployed to Iraq and I was very nervous about having the puppy without him! Our puppy, Diego, is the most wonderful thing in my life. I'm so happy that I have Diego while my husband is away. He fills all my lonely time and just makes me laugh nonstop. He was so easy to train by myself and has a wonderful personality. Without him I would be so lonely. He is a great companion, very loyal and protective. I love Double D Labs and Diane is a wonderful person to talk with. Time: November 15th 2003, 10:45PM

Posted by: Doris and Jerry Sundly Location: Long Beach, California Hi Diane,
Just wanted to thank you once again for making our adoption of Pearl, from Fergie and Rocky so wonderful. She had quite a day yesterday coming from Kansas to California via Tulsa, Salt Lake city and Los Angeles. She is a great traveler. We couldn't believe how quickly she adapted to her big adventure!
Today is her first day here in her new home and she's been fantastic! She's doing great in the crate and seems to be getting the potty training very quickly.
Anyone thinking of getting a lab from Diane and Darrell won't be disappointed. They are wonderful people with wonderful labs. Maybe, we'll be back-who knows?
It was definetly worth the long journey to get our perfect puppy Pearl.
Thanks again Diane for everything-especially answering all our questions so quickly. You and Darrell are the very best!!
Thanks again,

Hunter is a yellow lab (actually, he's white) out of Fergie and Rocky and we just adore him. He is so sweet and playful. Our chocolate, Hailey, adores him, as we all do. He went for his 8 week check today, and they said he's a marvelous lab and gave him the highest rating of health possible. Thanks, Diane, for another wonderful pet. Posted by: Michelle Meditz Location: Overland Park, KS USA I bought Lilly (registered her as Curlie Souix, after Dakota Souix) about 2 years ago. I don't know if you remember me, but I had lots and lots of questions about hip displaysia and the health of your dogs. Lilly was out of the first litter you had with Dakota Souix (and wow what a litter she threw! LOTS of puppies) and you could not wait to see how they turned out. Let me tell you I have never met a more friendly, lovable, and loyal dog. Now I know that it's in the Labs breeding and personality to be outgoing and lovable, but I would not have expected one dog to have so much life. She has now reached her full grown point (which is small, but absolutely perfect), she never hit the terrible two's stage, and her most favorite pass time of course is retrieving. As you may or may not recall I purchased her as a companion for my yellow Lab, Jake. The bond between the two is totally unbreakable! Shortly after I purchased her (within a week or two) I took her to visit one of my co-workers at an off duty job. He happened to be working the "Ducks Unlimited" Auction here in Overland Park. A place where lots of hunters with lots of money gather. At that auction there were two chocolate Lab puppies auctioned off. One of them, a male, went for $750. I don't remember their age, but I know they were twice Lilly's size at the auction. Towards the end of the auction the man who bought the male puppy happened to be walking out as I spoke with my friend. Lilly was asleep in my hand (since I had to take her everywhere). The man stopped and talked with me for sometime about Lilly and your Labs. Before he left he pulled out his wallet and tried to buy Lilly for $800. For a brief moment I thought about making the long drive back to see you to pick out another puppy, then decided no, that puppy in my arms was a true sweetheart and I couldn't think of letting her go. Today as I watch all of my neighbors lean over the fence to take a frisbee from her mouth and throw it for her I know I made the right decision. Thanks so much for making me so comfortable with my purchase. You truly brought an angel to my life and a smile to the face of all who meet her.

Daisy is such a sweetie...loves to snuggle and be held in the evenings.:) It amazes me how well they get along. I thought there'd be jealousy from Holly, but not so, she just welcomed her and loves her company! Thanks again for having such loving dogs for people to buy! Double D is the best! Terri:)
Posted by: Denise and Jim Location: Salem, In USA Diane, I just wanted to let you know that Chip is grown into a fine young man. I call him Sam sometimes. He looks just like him. And he acts alot like him. He still thinks he is a lap dog. But he is alot bigger now and he can't fit on the lap. He sure tries though. Cookie is not the bigger dog anymore. I remember when she was 3 lbs bigger. She is so pretty and she is the boss of the yard. STAR is also growing so much. She looks alot like cookies. You can tell they are Toby's girls. To anyone who wants a puppy from Diane. I want to warn you they are so easy to love and they fit right into your family. If you don't want a loving devoted puppies you need to go somewhere else. IF you want a smart caring loving dogs well you found them here with Diane. She takes such good care of the puppies and the parents. They are eager to please you when you get them home. If I have room I would get another one. But STAR is my last and now I get to watch Diane puppies grow on line. God Bless, Denise

She thinks she is a fish and play in the pool all day with Cookie and Chip. I love her and my other dogs. Man Chip has gotten so big in the last few weeks. Jim says his our bed is getting smaller whit Chip in it. To anyone who wants a Lab. I honesty can say Diane labs are the best. They are so well behaved and have a great temperment. Ohh STAR when she is hungry the bag is put up high. She climb as high as she can and barks at it. I think she might be a hunter. Well Love you Diane and thanks for STAR, cookie and mr. Chip a roo. Posted by: kayhodison Location: Mayetta, Ks We just got our first lab puppies from Diane, and we are thrilled. We intended to get 1 male from Di and Rocky's liter, but after our visit we decided to get a second out of Daisy and Toby's liter. Our Sam (Di/Rocky) is white with beautiful blue/green eyes with a pink nose, and our Bud (Daisy/Toby) is white with a black nose. They are healthy, happy dogs. What I like about Diane is that the dogs are her family pets, not just the dogs that she breeds. We are so glad to have found Double D. I don't want to forget Diane's husband, because he is clearly crazy about the dogs, like Diane. Diane will give you all the time you need to make your choice, and she will give you good, strong, quality labs.

Posted by: Eric Boettcher Location: Lansing, KS Diane, I just wanted to let you know that I had a great visit yesterday. Picking out my pup was tough and I'm sure no matter which pup I picked I wouldn't go wrong. You have some great looking dogs and I'm glad that I have chosen to purchase my pup from you. The seven hour round trip drive was worth it for me to meet you and your dogs. It's funny because I can't wait to make the trip again in three weeks so that I can bring Scout home. I look forward to meeting you and your Lab family again.
Posted by: Kara M Location: Ringwood, NJ Hi Diane. I haven't written in a long while, but I just wanted to let you know how well Bailey is doing. He is one of the greatest dogs I have ever had the luck of owning. I agree with everyone else that your pups are so easy to train. He was crate trained and house broken within weeks of bringing him home. He LOVES to retrieve, including the morning paper. We just open the door and he brings it right back. He has also learned many tricks with the slightest amount of training: sitting, shaking hands, high fives, speaking, fetching his leash. He's so smart. He is so gentle with my 4 year old niece. He lets her do anything and gets very concerned when she cries. He is also an excellent watch dog, if someone even breathes on our property, we know it. Thank you so much for flying him out to us. I can't even express how impressed and extremely satisfied we all are. We will be looking for a second in the near future, so I will definately be in touch again. I will try to also get pictures to you. He looks just like his dad, Sam. Thanks again.
Posted by: The Sotka family Location: Lincoln City, IN Diane, you know how pleased we are with our experiences with you and with our new puppy, but I want any one who reads your guestbook to know, too. We brought Bloc, our new family member, home on July 5 after driving over 1200 miles round trip from Indiana to Howard, KS. It was worth every mile & every hour on the road!! Bloc is from Dixie & Sam's litter born 5/14. He is a wonderful, handsome blocky lab pup!! Very easy-going, adapted very quickly to our family (including our cats & 3 kids) and traveled extremely well. He's already crate trained and makes very few mistakes in the house (YES ... as part of our family, he is a house dog!!). And he's learning so quickly!! Our entire family is head-over-heals in love with Bloc. All of our friends who have met him are really impressed by him, also. We were very impressed with Diane & Darrel and their home. I can't call it a "facility", because it's such a loving atmosphere, that it's definitely a home. All of the dogs & pups are obviously loved & well-cared for like family members should be. We definitely plan to add to our family in the near future with Diane's assistance. She is wonderful to "work" with and has given us so much good advice. I highly recommend Diane as a breeder and her dogs as family members. Thanks again, Diane! We look forward to staying in touch with you!!

Thank you for your posting on the internet it's great, who couldn't fall in love with all those beautiful pups. We are thinking about breeding Jake. Thanks again.
Posted by: Jim & Karen Smith Location: Wichita, KS USA We'll be picking up our new chocolate lab puppy July 3rd. We've made the 75 mile trip to Double D twice. Once to check the place out before any puppies were born and then again to pick out "Uncle Buck" from Sam & Dixie's latest litter. We were very pleased and impressed with the facilities and the owners. Diane really loves her dogs and loves the puppies. She works so hard and you can see that it's a labor of love. We got to meet most of the adult dogs there, Sam, Rocky, Toby, Daisy, Di, Ava, Dixie and the rest, and they are all friendly, healthy, good-natured labs which was important to us as we plan to train "Buck" to be a Therapy Dog. I highly recommend Double D Labs as a source for quality dogs at a very reasonable price that the average family can afford!
Posted by: Michelle Reed Location: Fredonia, KS Just wanted you to know at 15 weeks of age, Grace is retrieving out of the pond like an old pro! She's out of Darby and Sam's last litter. Grace is the smartest lab we've ever owned and we owned quite a few. She was the easiest to housebreak and had it mastered by the time she was 10 weeks old. She's going to be a big beautiful chocolate lab, just what we were looking for! Thanks again, Diane, for such a wonderful pup!
Posted by: Denise and Jim Johnson Location: Salem, In USA Diane, I just wantedto let you know how Chip and Cookie is doing! They are so great and Funny. I now when I leave I have to put them in the bathroom with their toys. They have figured out how to open my shut bedroom door. And when they are done playing and doing their thing out side they found out a way to open my back door and let themselves in. I think they are a little to smart or they think there human. In July they go to doggie school thats going to be fun! Thanks for thepuppies. And Max is doing fine with his new friends!!! Denise
Posted by: Kelli Fleming Location: Shawnee, KS Diane, when you get the chance we'd love to see a recent picture of Rocky and Di!! I remember checking Rocky out when we picked our Tanner up last June. Tanner is doing great (he's out of Sam and Jewel) And for prosepctive buyers: Our Tanner is a beautiful yellow lab with a light reddish-gold coat. He's a very intellegent, happy family dog who was house trained within 10 days, learned to sit, lay down, shake, stay, and give you "five", within the first month or two that he was with us. If his frisbie, Kong, bone, tennisball, rope and soccorball all in the yard, he knows the difference and will go get exactly what you tell him to. He's a whopping 90 pounds and will be a year old next month. He's built like his father with his block head and long legs- and he has Sam's same sweet disposition as well. We have a 2 1/2 year old boy and an almost 5 year old little girl and he's great with both children. Also, if he were a hunting dog, there is no doubt that he'd be an excellent one because we find all of his toys as well as our kids toys on our back porch by the door in a nice, neat pile. The RETRIEVER in him shows through! :-) So, you can't go wrong with a Double D Labrador Retriever!!
Posted by: Michelle Location: Fredonia, KS My family and I have been to Diane's more times than I can even count. We have an eleven week old female chocolate from Sam and Darby's litter. I've owned many labs, but Grace is by far the smartest and best looking lab we've had. She has been housebroken with very little effort. Grace even goes to work with me during the week and entertains the little ones that visit my gift shop. Somedays there's more people in to see her than me! We couldn't be anymore pleased with her. Diane and Darrell have become good friends of our family and we're already planning on another puppy addition from Double D. Thanks Diane for blessing us with such a beautiful pup.
